The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum.
​Erected in 1872, our beautiful stone building served the community of Carleton Place as the Town Hall and lock up until 1879, and then as Victoria School for 90 years until 1969.

The museum is run by the Carleton Place and Beckwith Historical Society with assistance from the Town of Carleton Place and the Township of Beckwith.
Opening as the Victoria School Museum in 1985, the name was changed in 2011 to reflect the scope of our collection and our communities.

Our main floor exhibit gallery features permanent exhibits telling the story of settlement in the                                                                      area and chronicling the town's history.

We're hiring a Museum Assistant/Interpretive Guide.
This position is part-time,  16 hours per week, beginning September 14 for 16 weeks.

The successful candidate will assist with reception duties, interpretative tours both on and off site, gift shop management, as well as assisting with historical research, special event planning and exhibit design. This is an interesting position with plenty of variety.

For four decades, our members have been committed to collecting, preserving and sharing our history.
Our community hub, The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum, does this through exhibitions, workshops, lectures and other events. To continue our important work, we are in need of new computers!

New computer stations will allow museum staff and volunteers to continue our work cataloging artifacts into our database, conducting research, communicating with our members and the public, and to perform all daily administrative tasks.
